This guide assumes that you already have the basic knowledge how to use Transifex.
Instructions
Most of the strings in the language files are self-explanatory. For those that aren't, we added instructions. They look like this:
If you are unclear where some string is used and how to translate it, contact us and we will provide or update the instructions for the string.
Dates
Since version 3, Ohanah store date configuration in language files. All the date related strings should contain proper instructions, usually with a screenshot.
Please follow your language standard for the dates. Do not use something that you "prefer" or it's "common". The language files should always contain standardized format of the dates and users can easily override that with language overrides if they prefer some other format.
The source language is British English, thus the rules in the source language are following British English standards for dates.
Repeating events summaries
Ohanah v3 tries to, whenever is possible, display a human-readable summary of the repeating rule for the event. Strings that control these summaries are not trivial and can be confusing. Please check instructions before translating those. A great way of checking all the possible options is to go into New event form, open Repeating modal and then experiment. The summary will be displayed in the footer of the modal.
Use history
Sometimes, we change the source (English) string. This is usually to fix a typo or simplify the language used in the instructions. When that happens, Transifex considers that string non-translated. In this case, the easiest way is to use "history" feature of the Transifex. That can save you a lot of re-writing already translated strings.
